Yup

So... beginning to composite. Gonna play much more with textures, add gradients, do more things. Make it look pretty. Compositing is so annoying, I'm not gonna lie. I wish someone would do it for me.

Here's some more junk for you. :3 I am feeling much better about this now. Good feedback. Good progress. Sweet.

Oh Yeah, I forgot to post things

So for my thesis, I didn't just stop working on it. I've been busting my metaphorical balls on it. Fo' sho'. So... I guess I should give you guys a itsy bitsy little taste of what I've been doing. I pretty much keyed almost all the shots, and I'm on to inbetweening... so I will give you the simplest inbetweened shots ever! Because I'm mean like that! Har har har.

Meanwhile, I STILL NEED A TITLE. Please give me title suggestions, please. I'm drawing a blank on everything, and this is baaaaaaaahhh-d. >_< please shoot me.

Also, I need to start writing my thesis statement which I will present in front of a large crowd after the screening of my film in the spring. I honestly have no desire to write or talk for 6-8 minutes, especially about something deep and sentimental regarding my life's journey and animation as its forefront imaginative outlet. That's boring. And too emotional for me. So, I think I want to make my speech silly and FULL OF SHEEP PUNS. So, I would like to start collecting bad jokes and any sheep pun you can think of. Feel free to leave them in the comment area.

I was gonna start with this... "This is not deep, but sheep..."

Please, just shoot me now.

New Things to Consider

The beginning of Senior Year of college. You know what this means?

THESIS TIME

And that also means a lack of sleep and a lot of sugar and caffeine in the diet. Wooh. Welp, the good news is, I've started my thesis. Bad news is, I have to finish it. Such a long way to go. I've started animating so far, though. I still need a title that's witty and cute. So if you have any suggestions, shoot me a comment, yo.

And without further adieu, here's the animatic.

It's fairly long, for a 2D hand drawn animated film produced and animated soley by me. But, hey, I can do it, right? I just hope I can produce some quality animation in the time I have with it. Cross your fingers. I have animated some sheep already, but I won't start posting them till I have the shots registered and I have more things done. I'll put some of them in a blocked movie for you to see. And feedback is always welcome!

I want to wish all my classmates good luck in finishing their theses as well. This will be a long, tedious year. But you're all talented and made it this far! Let's make some awesome films! BOOYAH.

Updates for All

Here are just a few things everyone can look at. I realize I never posted my final video of Nacht on here for people to watch. Granted, I was probably thinking I was going to submit it to film festivals, but I am so lazy that is not going to happen. You can check it out at my vimeo account: CLICK ME YAY!

And here's another 3D animation that I did last year that I never uploaded from class. It was a dialogue sequence. I took a sound clip from Night At the Museum. I like the little dude's animation better. It flows more. I'm just better at lip sync than 3D animation in any case, so the angry lip speaking was very fun to do. Mostly teeth and lip curling for that. Especially the part where I look in the mirror and imitate it. Haha. Always a laugh.

3D Exercises

So here are just a few exercises from my 3D classes, and I'm currently working on a dialogue, which I'm kind of excited about because I feel like I learned a lot from the previous works and I'll be using that in this animation. It'll be good, I think.

Monologue Animation: Just practicing lip sync and characterization. I choose a really weird sound clip. It was actually a lot harder than I thought to make an awkward character. Geez.

Jekyll and Hyde Animation: To show a change in expression/emotion.

Push Animation: To show weight. First animation for this class.

Monster Style Test

So... I've been getting lazy with my animation after working so hard for such a long time and now having a ton of other work to do, I'm tired. Ergo, I was thinking of interesting styles of how to animate the monster quickly, efficiently, but still in a high quality manner. I decided that, since he is a shape shifter, a strange blob, a nameless thing, what he does and what he looks like can be anything, but should still fit in the style of the film and yet mirror what it is feeling. So I tried this:

This is toward the end, where it is cornered, getting scared or nervous or confused, and losing an idea of what it should be or due. It's glitching in a way.

The timing isn't done. It's just straight through and will be completely different in the timing when I actually do it. I just wanted to test the style, of how he becomes shapeless and morphs from place to place.

Discuss. :)
